OldWorld

OldWorld is the name given to the planet locally known as Olda by the first human settlers that arrived some 1,500 years ago. It is a small world comprised almost entirely of water, with three primary continents that make up the majority of livable landmass – Milwyr in the northeast, Tor Darok in the south, and Espiwaye in the west.

OldWorld’s dominant intelligent races, in order of population in known and explored territories, are as follows:

  1. Elven (Elf, Drow)
  2. Human (Human)
  3. Dwarven (Dwarf)
  4. Goblinoid (Goblin, Hobgoblin, Bugbear)
  5. Orcish (Orc)
  6. Gnomish (Gnome)

The estimated total population of OldWorld, as partially derived from censuses of the above races, is 1.5 billion.

The trade language of OldWorld is Common.

The scientific language of OldWorld is Common.

The arcane language of OldWorld is Elven, although this applies only to arcane thesis. Typically, arcane spells are incanted in Draconic, while alchemical formulas are notated in Common or Gnomish.

OldWorld’s recognized capital is the city of Lomyr in Milwyr, which is also its wealthiest city per capita. Its recognized largest city is Spirit Landing in Espiwaye, although the mostly-unmapped Goblinaar located in Tor Darok is most probably larger. Goblinaar is also OldWorld’s most densely populated city, with an estimated 1.3 million inhabitants.
